Fees and billing

Anaesthetic fees

Anaesthetic fees cover the specialist care from your anaesthetist before, during and after a procedure, and are separate from the surgeon and hospital costs.

These fees are influenced by factors such as the length and complexity of your surgery and your health, and are set using recommendations from the Australian Medical Association (AMA) and the Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA). You may pay an out-of-pocket amount called a "gap" after receiving rebates from Medicare and your private health fund.

Rough guide to fees

In general, Dr Halvey's fees are limited to a maximum out-of-pocket expense of $500 per episode of care. This applies to Australian residents with the appropriate level of private health insurance.

Uninsured and overseas patients will need to consult the rooms to obtain an accurate estimate. In general, fees are those set out by the AMA and ASA, and will not exceed the levels recommended by them.
