Anaesthetic services

Dr Halvey provides anaesthesia and peri-operative care for adults undergoing surgery. He covers all aspects of adult general anaesthesia other than cardiothoracic and paediatric surgery.

Orthopaedic anaesthesia

Anaesthesia for joint replacement, knee, hip, limb and trauma surgery, with regular orthopaedic lists.

Relevant procedures: hip replacement, knee replacement, joint arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction.

Obstetric anaesthesia

Epidurals and anaesthesia for caesarean section and other obstetric care, with regular obstetric sessions.

Relevant procedures: caesarean section, cervical cerclage.

Regional anaesthesia

Nerve blocks and spinal/epidural techniques to control pain and reduce the need for stronger medicines.

Often used for: ACL reconstruction, knee replacement, hip replacement, caesarean section.

General surgical anaesthesia

Anaesthesia for a wide range of adult elective and emergency general surgery.

Relevant procedures: hernia surgery, haemorrhoidectomy, bowel resection, infusaport insertion.

Perioperative medicine

Preparing complex and frail patients for surgery, including shared decision-making and risk assessment.
